Can you believe it’s already application season? ApplyTexas opened July 1 and the Common Application opened on August 1. College-bound Texas students are likely using one if not both of these in the coming months. But which?
You may have seen our blog comparing the 4 major application systems. But even if they understand the basic differences, students may need guidance figuring out which application to use. Some Texas private schools, like Rice, accept the Common App but not the ApplyTexas. Most Texas public schools, including all UT & A&M system schools, accept the ApplyTexas but not the Common App. Some private and public schools, like Texas Christian and University of North Texas, accept both.
Confused? Not to worry. Both applications offer tools to guide students.
The Common App offers this search function that enables students to search the hundreds of participating institutions by name, state, and more. The ApplyTexas website provides information on what four- and two-year institutions accept their application, and what requirements are. Big Future is also a fantastic research tool with application information listed on individual college profiles.
