Streamlining Pathways, Together

11/1/16

Texas OnCourse Emblem: Graduation Cap

From my experience as a student, a college adviser, a student (again), to my current role as Director of Design and Implementation at Texas OnCourse, I have seen what good and bad advice can do for a student’s college and career trajectory.  In service to students, we seek to give the best guidance possible, but sometimes it seems utterly impossible due to a lack of time, lagging information, and a variety of other factors. With House Bill 5, it became even more complicated. Guiding students and families through endorsement selection and the associated career pathways is a daunting task, especially because of the lack of information around how these decisions truly affect student outcomes.

Texas OnCourse’s primary intent is to streamline student pathways to college and career success. We believe that we can move the needle through providing unfettered access to best-in-class online resources and data tools to educators, and innovative tools and a gamified learning opportunity to middle school students. We are collaborating with educators around the state and have incorporated their voices into the design of our products. We are excited to continue building partnerships with not just educators, but other stakeholders interested in contributing to our student-centered mission.

This blog will be a place where we share ideas from across the community. Please let us know if you are interested in contributing and sharing your ideas with the network. We look forward to our work together in serving the students of Texas.

Thank you for all you do.
